 Eastbourne
There's more to sea...
Widely famed for its stunning coastline, elegant Victorian and Edwardian houses and as the gateway to the beautiful South Downs, modern-day Eastbourne has more than ever to offer...
Renew and refresh
Whether it’s a ramble through the breath-taking countryside of the South Downs National Park, a seafront promenade or a stroll along the pier, Eastbourne offers every opportunity to relax the mind and invigor- ate the body.
The more energetic can test themselves with one of the UK’s most challenging off-road endurance races. The ‘Beachy Head Marathon’ was formerly known as the ‘Seven Sisters’, with the route taking in the stun- ning coastline along with the undulating Downs and picturesque villages. Top tip: there’s also a half marathon and 10k route for those less inclined towards a full marathon. The views are still as good!
Old Town
The area of Eastbourne now known as Old Town was one of four original farming hamlets that pre-date the Victorian housing boom. Bourne village – as it was then known – features a 12th century pub, The Lamb Inn, the beautiful St Mary the Virgin church, a traditional shopping parade, as well as the pretty Motcombe gardens and lake. Centuries on, Old Town remains one of Eastbourne’s most desirable areas to live, with access to good schools and amenities.
