 SUTTON VALENCE, WEST MALLING AND YALDING
   SUTTON VALENCE
Sutton Valence is a village about five miles South East of Maidstone on the A274 road which leads south to Headcorn and Tenterden. Being set in an elevated position above the Weald, many properties have great views.
The village has a good primary school but is more noted for Sutton Valence School, an independent school with its prep school at nearby Chart Sutton.
TRANSPORT. Maidstone is about five miles to the north. The M20 (J8) is about 3.75 miles. Headcorn station (about four miles) provides regular services to London Charing Cross.
SCHOOLS. Sutton Valence is home to the Sutton Valence independent senior and preparatory schools. In addition, there is a local primary school and secondary education will be found in Maidstone and at Linton (the Cornwallis Academy).
RETAIL. There are limited retail facilities in the village but a good range of shops including a Sainsburys Local are available in Headcorn, about four miles to the south.
WEST MALLING
West Malling is a small market town and lies about 6 miles to the West of Maidstone offering easy access to both the M20 (J4) and A20. It also has a railway station.
West Malling centre has plenty of restaurants, pubs and cafés with a good variety of shops and a monthly farmers’ market. Not far away is the large and modern Kings Hill development (see separate listing).
TRANSPORT. M20 (J4) about 1.5 miles and a mainline railway station to London Victoria.
SCHOOLS. There are a number of primary schools in the area and secondary schools can be found within three or four miles.
RETAIL. West Malling has a good range of shops with additional facilities at Kings Hill (about two miles).
YALDING
Yalding is a village situated about six miles (9.7 km) south west of Maidstone at a point where the Rivers Teise and Beult join the River Medway. Parts of Yalding are prone to flooding the latest being 2013 but it is still a popular place to live.
TRANSPORT. The M20 (J4) and M26 are about eight miles to the north. Yalding is on a British Rail “link line” whilst Paddock Wood station on the London Charing Cross line is about 3.5 miles.
SCHOOLS. The Yalding Primary School and for secondary education, Yalding is understood to be in the Mascalls Academy Comprehensive (Paddock Wood) catchment area.
RETAIL. There is limited shopping in the village but a Waitrose supermarket and more extensive selection of shops will be found in Paddock Wood (3.5 miles).
