Spotlight on Sovereign Harbour
Opened in 1993, Sovereign Harbour is northern Europe’s largest composite marina complex and boasts four linked harbours and the hugely popular Waterfront retail and restaurant development. A world away from the hustle and bustle of modern urban living and a laid-back haven from which to escape life’s pressures, Sovereign Harbour is Eastbourne’s best kept secret. Perfect for yachting and motor-boat cruising alike, this family friendly, award winning marina offers first-class facilities and a delightful choice of waterfront cafes, restaurants and shops.
Spotlight on Meads
Meads Village lies between Eastbourne town centre and the foot of the South Downs National Park. It is prized for its wide tree lined streets and grand Victorian and Edwardian residences.
At its centre is ‘The Village’, a group of 19th Centur y ar tisan dwellings built around a square of central allotments, each one a miniature cottage garden.
Nearby Meads Street with its parade of shops, restaurants, cafes, pubs and Parish Hall is the beating heart of the local community.
The sea is just a few minutes’ walk away at the former fishing hamlet of Holywell, set at the foot of the South Downs.
There is a cliff top promenade with slopes and steps down to a lower promenade leading to a shingle beach with a café, toilet facilities, beach huts and chalets.
