It's easy to love where you live when it's somewhere as beautiful and diverse as the West Country, on the other hand it's not always as easy to love where you work. However, we must be doing something right here at GTH as we have a number very loyal staff who have been with us for 25 years or more!
Our staff are the backbone of our firm and although times and technologies have changed, we appreciate their hard work and loyalty today as much as when they first joined us.
Sally Popham, from our Land & Planning department, is celebrating 30 years with GTH this year!
"Having worked for WRJ Greenslade, then Greenslade Hunt, then Greenslade Taylor Hunt, I have been associated with the firm for a long time! My first job was at the former Taunton and Bridgwater Markets booking in livestock, where I met and worked with some great characters. Being late for work on my very first day, I soon realised I was working with nice, understanding people! With the firm being so diverse with many specialist areas, it makes my work very varied and interesting."
Michael Ford, from our Taunton office, has been with GTH since 1986.
"32 years with GTH and 10 years prior, straight from college, with A W Parker & Co. and F L Hunt & Sons. I have seen lots of changes at GTH over the years, although there are still a few of the original faces around. There are many stories I could tell, but I’m afraid my lips are sealed! I’ve also seen so many changes in the industry, some for the good and some not so good – there is definitely a lot more paperwork now!"
Geraldine White, from our Chard office, has been with the company for more than 25 years.
"I actually started in this industry in 1975! I think stand-out memories are of all the lovely and very interesting people I have met along the way. The industry changes but ultimately it is the people involved who make it what it is. Every day is different and you learn never to be suprised by the next phone call."
Lisa Brimble, from our Survey & Valuation department in Taunton, has worked here for 30 years.
"I cannot believe that I have been here for 30 years! I left secretarial college on the Tuesday and was lucky enough to start work the very next day at W R J Greenslade & Co, at a time when typewriters, carbon copy paper and shorthand were normal working practice.
I worked alongside Richard Sanders, a very knowledgeable and well-respected Chartered Surveyor for over 29 years. I now look after Simon Tidswell and Phil Applegate and their hectic surveying and valuing schedules. Over the years I have been asked countless times, “Why have you stayed in one job for so long?” Well, the answer is an easy one: because I enjoy my job and the people I work with."
